Springwoods Behavioral Health is an affiliated 80-bed acute care behavioral health facility located in Northwest Arkansas and has been providing quality health care to the residents Northwest Arkansas since 2009. The hospital provides 24-hour acute care Adult and Adolescent behavioral health services.
Springwoods Behavioral Health is seeking a dynamic and talented Director of Assessment and Referral.
In this position you will interact with incoming patients, families, visitors in a caring and responsive manner to ensure a positive experience and environment. This position maintains and fosters open communications with all departments within the hospital while maintain professional relationships with patients and staff.
Receives all incoming admission inquiry calls to the hospital during established office hours.
Determines the need for an assessment on each inquiry call and schedules assessment when appropriate.
Communicates the admission process and criteria on each inquiry call, or during each assessment.
Assesses the physical, emotional and psychological needs of each patient and determines suitability of admission.
Explains and completes all admission consents with each patient or patient's family on each admission.
Verifies/pre-certifies insurance on each admission and documents on appropriate forms.
Collects admission deposits, when required, according to Business Office policies and procedures.
Communicates initial assessment information to appropriate staff and departments on each admission.
Is totally familiar with all treatment programs and costs to provide accurate information to patients and/or families.
Attends marketing meetings as directed to provide pertinent information to committee members.
Attends scheduled census meetings five (5) times per week or sends delegate.
Prepares and distributes monthly intake and admission reports.
Supervises and provides direction to the Admissions staff, including monitoring of job performance.
Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competence of designated skills identified for position.
Assigns specific duties and work hours, and monitors daily.
Discusses performance expectations with employees on a regular basis.
Provides departmental staff information regarding hospital policies and procedures.
Serves as a leadership and education resource for other employees.
Ensures appropriate selection of staff through the established personnel procedures.
Assists with recruitment for potential new staff members.

Ability to assess the physical, emotion, and psychological needs of patients.
Ability to determine suitability of admission to the hospital based on clinical and financial criteria.
Ability to make independent and responsible decisions.
Good knowledge of utilization review and insurance verification.
Must have ability to work under stressful circumstances with frequent interruptions.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
A stable emotional makeup is required to interact with patients, physicians, families and hospital personnel.
