Under the direction of the IACUC (Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee), serves as a resource to IACUC, DCM (Department of Comparative Medicine)Veterinary staff, PIs, and the research community. Responsible for the Post Approval Monitoring Program for animal research at Mayo Clinic. Serves as an independent and objective viewpoint to promote a culture of compliance in a manner consistent with institutional policies, goals and objectives. Monitors animal welfare through collection and review of objective data. Designs, plans and conducts regulatory reviews of animal research with varying complexity levels for the purpose of proactive review and also addressing allegations of non-compliance. Serves as an educational resource to researchers and assists with ensuring communication of expectations and responsibilities for new protocols between Comparative Medicine and research teams. Works in partnership with DCM to provide education on best practices and serves as a resource to the study teams. Position has responsibility and oversight at the Arizona, Florida and Rochester campuses. Travel is required.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare, or related field, with one to two years in healthcare/research setting preferred; or requires a vet tech education and/or certification with one to two years in healthcare/research setting preferred; or must have at least six years of experience in a research laboratory setting working directly with animals.
Additional qualifications Knowledge of IACUC regulations, policies and guidance required. Strong communication, written documentation and problem solving skills required. Must be self-motivated to function independently and able to apply federal and institutional regulations to a variety of complex situations in a rapidly changing environment. Must be flexible with work schedule to accommodate customer needs.

Compensation Detail Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2,644.00, based on a full-time position.
