Cone Health announces an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished cancer physician and recognized leader to serve as Chief of Oncology Services, a system-level position providing the medical leadership and expertise to advance the clinical, financial, operational and strategic goals for the oncology service line. Headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina, Cone Health maintains oncology services at six cancer campuses, providing care to patients in a total of five counties. Cone Health sees more than 4,000 new analytic cancer patients each year and treats more breast, lung, colon and prostate cancer patients than surrounding academic programs. Through an affiliation with Southwest Clinical Oncology Research Consortium, Cone Health cancer patients have access to NCI-approved clinical research projects and the newest developments in cancer treatment and care.
Reporting to the President and Chief Medical Officer of Cone Health Medical Group, the Chief of Oncology will provide medical leadership, vision and direction for the oncology service line, building upon the existing strong foundation to advance the system’s comprehensive oncology strategic plan. The Chief will direct all clinical programs in the inpatient, outpatient and satellite settings to promote quality of care, value and appropriate resource utilization for all oncology services; align community providers and employed physicians in the shared vision for advancing quality and service; participate in the recruitment and integration of high performing physicians; expand clinical programs and services to provide comprehensive cancer services and care with a multidisciplinary care team approach, and expand research for advancing care.

The successful candidate will be a highly-respected oncologist with a track record of leadership success within an oncology service line or regional cancer program. A collaborative leadership style and a proven track record of programmatic development are essential. An MD, DO or MD/PhD, current board certification in an oncology specialty and eligibility for a North Carolina medical license are required. An advanced degree in business, public health or health care administration is preferred.
