Community Rehabilitation Hospital North (7343 Clearvista Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46256), a joint venture with Community Health Network and Kindred Healthcare, is an inpatient acute facility that offers superior access and the latest equipment to improve the lives of individuals with a broad range of diagnoses - from brain and spinal cord injury to stroke and amputation. Community Rehabilitation Hospital North has an advanced accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) in Adult Inpatient Care and for their Inpatient Brain Injury Specialty Program and Stroke Specialty Program.
Responsible for the direction and oversight of Rehabilitation Services and Prospective Payment System (PPS) for the hospital. Coordinates and supervises operations of the department, administers physical agents prescribed by a referring physician. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities. Assures competency of all personnel. Assists in formulating budget, evaluates department performance versus budget and takes appropriate action to remain in budget guidelines. Develops and implements system of reviewing department charges, ensures that patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis. Maintains efficient and effective department operation while requiring compliance with all state, federal and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols.
Responsible for direction of the Rehabilitation Services Department staff. Supports and empowers staff to embrace the mission and value statements of the organization.
Oversees the PPS functions and PPS Coordinator
Ability to observe and evaluate treatment effect, recommends change to physician if needed.
Ability to perform an appropriate assessment on all patients as related to the therapy requested and provided and reassessments as per policy.
Able to assess patient pain interfering with optimal level of function or participation in rehabilitation - makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate.
Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency of all rehabilitation services modalities.
Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families. Functions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers.
Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Maintains department cleanliness and safety. Complies with ongoing departmental inspections of equipment and physical space, makes recommendations regarding equipment utilization and needs.
Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.
Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors and staff. Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions. Complies with appropriate and approved safety standards.
Current licensure as a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Speech and Language Pathologist in the state of IN. Minimum of three years of previous therapy management required.
Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, evaluate and direct activities of clinical personnel; effective oral and written communication skills, in English with additional languages preferred; proficiency in basic computer skills required.
