JOB TITLE: Infrastructure Platform Technology Specialist II
LOCATION: Geisinger Office Building I Annex (Old Data Center)

Responsible for assisting Information Technology staff in the design and support of server, virtualization, storage, public/private cloud, infrastructure monitoring and infrastructure automation systems.
Provides and promotes a technical environment which will maximize the productivity of I.T. personnel while minimizing cost and organizational impact.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Geisinger in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Monitors the platform infrastructure via tools or otherwise to ensure maximum availability
*Deployment and maintenance of the platform infrastructure. (Server, Storage, Public/Private Cloud, virtualization, monitoring and automation)
*Ownership of the platform infrastructure from deployment to end of life.
*Consults with project teams to ensure compatibility with existing solutions, infrastructure and services.
*Researches and evaluates emerging technology, industry and market trends. Provides recommendations based on business relevance, appropriate timing and deployment.
*Evaluates, recommends and implements new system software products, product updates and new releases.
*Creates necessary documentation of systems and infrastructure
*Informs appropriate personnel of new features, limitations, and considerations produced by upgrades or new products.
*Participates in the evaluation of new hardware products and upgrades.
*Provides guidance to other technical personnel in appropriate areas of expertise.
*Proven subject matter expert for platform infrastructure technologies.
Performs any other assigned duties necessitated by business, regulatory, or emergency situations.

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Experience in infrastructure automation technologies/concepts
Demonstrated advanced proficiency in one or more of the following languages:
Cloud Technologies (Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, etc.)
Microsoft Windows Server (all versions).
RedHat Linux (all versions)
Working knowledge of ServiceNow and how to integrate automation with ServiceNow and ServiceNow Discovery
Microsoft System Center Suite
Demonstrates knowledge of all infrastructure (Desktop, Network, Platform, Data Center) and how they interact.
Demonstrates knowledge of traditional SAN and software-based storage systems, server operating systems, virtualization, public/private cloud, and automation / monitoring systems.
Demonstrates ability to work in a team environment but can also self-manage when needed.
Demonstrates ability to provide guidance to technical personnel.
Demonstrates ability to anticipate risk, think analytically and minimize potential problems
Demonstrates the ability to interact with all levels of the IT organization in a team-based setting.
Demonstrates a high level of initiative and independence.
Demonstrates the ability to own an infrastructure environment(s) and coordinate any projects/maintenance needed in that environment
Demonstrates the ability to design complex infrastructure solutions to help meet the performance, reliability and costs required
Demonstrates the ability to set a technical direction for platform infrastructure technologies.
Demonstrates the ability to act in an Architect role for Platform Services technology.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic) field required. Minimum of 10 years of equivalent experience in a STEM field required.
In lieu of degree, may consider a minimum of fifteen years of equivalent experience in a STEM field required.
Experienced in running large technical projects.
