Provides the necessary functions to collect debts owed to the hospitals and all physicians within the Geisinger Health System. The position requires interaction with Geisinger patients via inbound and outbound call technology, facilitated by specialized training on the use of blended technology tools. Outbound collection calls are made utilizing a predictive dialer, with a minimum seventy (70) calls connected per Specialist per day for resolution of outstanding patient balances. This position further provides resolution of patient related revenue cycle issues generated on return collection calls received on a self-pay designated inbound phone line, with resolution of any associated correspondence within twenty-four (24) hours of receipt.
This position executes and performs programs to insure efficient operations of the Geisinger Health System Revenue Cycle program in order to generate sufficient cash flow to support GHS operations and strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities include collection of cash, application of approved adjustments, setup and management of installment plans, communication of and assistance with Geisinger's Uncompensated Care Policy, identification and escalation of accounts eligible for outside collection activity, validation of self-pay account status and insurance billing when necessary, and management of undeliverable patient statements associated with approximately $30 million of self-pay accounts receivable.
Reports to the Revenue Cycle Supervisor or the Revenue Cycle Manager.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum three to five years of healthcare/commercial collections experience or patient/customer service experience required. High School diploma or equivalent required.
B.A. or B.S. in related field preferred.
Experience within a similar setting of size or volume preferred.
Experience with the predictive dialer preferred.
