Under the supervision of the Sterile Processing Manager, the transporter is responsible for transporting case carts and equipment throughout the hospital. Provide Stat and routine errand services to Operating Room, Sterile Processing, Material Management, and Central Supply.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Transports case carts , supplies, disposable materials, custom packs and instrument trays between the Operating Room, SPD and throughout the hospital
Observe proper safety techniques, practices and processes and report any variances to the proper personnel immediately.
Make routine rounds of Operating Room & Sterile Processing for return case carts and instrument trays. Instrument trays are stored in multiple locations in Operating Room
Perform routine rounds throughout hospital, picking up unused sterile instrument trays and scanning and returning them to the proper Sterile Processing Sterile Storage Area.
Verify daily supply requirements and delivery times for each clinic using electronic instrument tracking system.
Perform duties with awareness of Patient Safety, comfort, and privacy at all times.
Respond to exception request from clinical supply staff.
Assist with stocking inventory in clinics; receive instrument orders, check in items, stock shelves, and retrieve supplies.
Must adhere to the policies and procedures of the Sterile Processing Department and Operating Room
Maintain records of distribution and receipt.
Perform other duties as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned by management.
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to read and write English
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge of Operating departmental equipment
Ability to maneuver and operate transport equipment
At least 6 months of related experience
Experience using an electronic tracking system
Exceptional customer service skills
Ability to lift or move 50 to 100 pounds occasionally , and /or 25 to 50 pounds frequently
