Provides skilled HVAC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing services to efficiently operate facilities on campus. Provides general carpentry and painting to maintain, repair and renovate the physical structure. Tests, monitors and operates equipment/chemicals for water supply. Removes snow using various types of equipment. Provides assistance to maintain grounds, as required.
Handles work requests and responds to emergencies on various mechanical and electrical support systems. Receives general direction from Facilities Supervisor.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Marworth & the Geisinger Health System in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Possesses a professional license such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, water operator, etc.
Demonstrates the ability to read, write, perform simple mathematical calculations, read blueprints, select proper materials and hardware, use hand and power tools (i.e. electric, pneumatic), use various types of wood, plastic and other building materials and tools.
Demonstrates knowledge of required codes and principles of electricity; ability to use voltmeters and amprobes.
Demonstrates general skills and abilities to trouble-shoot, diagnose and repair (or refer as necessary) diverse utilities and building systems problems.
Demonstrates knowledge of principles and methods of plumbing and pipe fitting.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge of basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, HVAC and electrical components and systems required. Minimum four years experience in one of the trades, with "hands-on" experience in other trades, required.
Completion of a one year formal education program, such as trade-school, military or vo-tech, with knowledge in basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, HVAC and electrical components and systems, and minimum three years experience in one of these trades, with "hands-on" experience in the other trades, required.
Completion of a two year formal education program, such as trade-school, military or vo-tech, with knowledge in basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical and electrical components and systems, and minimum two years experience in one of these trades, with "hands-on" experience in the other trades, required.
Ability to work from heights.
Current valid PA driver's license required.
Minimum six months to become proficient in carpentry, painting, electrical and plumbing duties required.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work in all conditions including outside environment. Must be able to lift 40 to 50 pounds.
