JOB SUMMARY: Assumes responsibility for the performance of routine, standardized biological and/or biochemical tests, as well as more complex procedures on blood, urine, tissues, body fluids and other specimens that assist physicians in the diagnosis of clinical management of patients. Assumes responsibility for recognizing results or problems that require referral to Technical Specialist, Pathologist or Administrative Coordinator. Performs additional tasks as requested by Chairman of Pathology or his/her designee.
EDUCATION: Associate degree in medical laboratory technology or related sciences. Knowledge of specialized principles or techniques which would normally be obtained through a formal two year academic program.
REQUIREMENTS: Registry with a recognized board of registry for medical laboratory technology, such as American Society of Clinical Pathologists preferred. Successful completion of all Orientation Programs.
