In this role, you will develop, validate and implement procedures for the separation of specific cell types for research and clinical purposes in a cGMP facility and for the testing related to cellular therapies involving cord blood, for example: sterile cellular culture, testing for cell viability, function and sterility.
Performing moderately complex lab tests, including purification and culture cord blood hematopoietic cells for research and clinical purposes.
Quality control testing for sterility, viability and function of intermediate and final cell products.
QC and QA as needed for different assays.
Preparing shipping, packing/labelling specimens and following DOT and OSHA regulations
Performing DNA assays, hematology, bacterial, hemoglobinopaties testing using semi-automated systems.
Participating in in-house quality assurance and training programs, as well as instrument specific training.
Participating in environmental monitoring program for the cGMP facility
Operating and performing daily quality control on all equipment prior to use and conducting routine preventative maintenance as required (centrifuges, flow cytometer, Real Time PCR, among others).
Investigating and documenting deviations and occurrences and notifying management
Assisting in the development of SOPs and other documents.
Ensuring compliance with all policies, practices, procedures, SOPs and other applicable regulations, requirements and standards.
Handling other related functions as necessary.
9am to 5pm standard shifts, occasional flexibility required
Monday through Friday with Saturday and holiday rotation
To qualify, you must have a Bachelors’ Degree with at least 2 years’ experience in a Stem Cell Research Lab or Cellular Therapy Clinical Lab, or, an MS degree with 1 year of related experience.
Meeting requirements for NY State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or eligible to obtain a restricted License in Cell Therapy.
The ability to work with minimal supervision, along with extensive knowledge and hands on experience of sterile technique and general cell cultures will be expected, as will skills for general molecular biology techniques such as PCR and DNA/RNA extraction.
You should also be able to plan/organize job tasks and resources in an efficient manner, and possess excellent oral/written communication, analytical, problem-solving and PC skills. Flow cytometry experience with human cells preferred.
