ACADEMIC PHYSIATRIST POSITION The Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is proud to announce an opening for an outstanding physiatrist with a strong desire to further our clinical practice, science and education. Our current openings include: Inpatient Rehabilitation Physiatrist SpineCare Physiatrist The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is comprised of 26 faculty members, along with approximately 20 residents, fellows and graduate students, is one of the largest medical rehabilitation programs in the country. There is a broad range of clinical, educational and research services available, providing comprehensive care for the disabled. Rehabilitation physicians, residents, fellows, and medical students, together with predoctoral and postdoctoral graduate students, contribute to the activities of the department. Froedtert Hospital is the primary adult hospital affiliate of the Medical College and is staffed by College physicians providing care in all medical specialties and subspecialties. Located within the hospital is a 28-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit, specializing in spinal cord injury, stroke, brain injury, spasticity and tone management, and general rehabilitation. The Medical College of Wisconsin is a major national research center; the largest research institution in the Milwaukee metro area and 2nd largest in Wisconsin. In fiscal year 2014-15, faculty received approximately $158 million in external support for research, teaching, training and related purposes, of which approximately $85 million is from the National Institute of Health. The Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin is an academic tertiary care facility closely affiliated with the Medical College of Wisconsin. The Department of PM&R has research laboratories at the VA including our health services research offices and rehabilitation robotics laboratory. The Zablocki VA includes a 32 bed acute inpatient spinal cord injury unit and an 11 bed general/neurological inpatient rehabilitation unit. Milwaukee is the cultural and economic center of Wisconsin. The city boasts a very reasonable cost of living and a four-season climate. Milwaukee is home to three major sports teams, many shopping centers and malls, and a variety of county parks in addition to a beautiful lakefront. Milwaukee offers an excellent ballet, opera, and symphony. An outstanding zoo provides enjoyment for the entire family. Summer music festivals on the lakefront are among the largest in the nation.
