Assist in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Diseases as a Medical Lab Scientist II, Pathology (Full Time – Night) at WakeMed’s North Hospital
The Medical Lab Scientist II, Pathology will perform routine and specialized laboratory tests and other procedures for use in the diagnosis and appropriate treatment of diseases. This position will require the use of requisite equipment, instruments, and computer systems. The Medical Lab Scientist II will evaluate and report on patient results using independent judgement within the scope of established testing methods. You will update your knowledge and skills in line with industry changes and apply these appropriately. This position will require you to maintain age-specific and other required competencies, perform quality control procedures, and contribute to the maintenance of the laboratory, equipment, and supplies. This position will assist in the development and implementation of new procedures, instrumentation, and other tools as needed. The Scientist may assume responsibility for one or more laboratory projects or functions. This includes but is not limited to safety, quality control, administrative, staff development, or other areas as needed. You will oversee the training of new employees and/or students in the theoretical and operational aspects of procedures and evaluate their work in turn. The Medical Lab Scientist II will act as a resource for the less experienced members of their team and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

2 Years Clinical Laboratory experience required
Moderate and High complexity testing experience required (or equivalent education)
Associate’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology required
Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology preferred
American Society for Clinical Pathology certification required
National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel Certification (or equivalent education) required
