Cleans, sterilizes, disinfects, orders, stocks, and maintains routine and special-order anesthesia supplies and equipment. Assists licensed anesthesia care providers in a variety of patient-focused settings including the routine preparation of patients who are scheduled to receive anesthesia for a surgical, interventional, or diagnostic procedure. Performs first-line preventative maintenance on anesthesia gas machines, physiologic monitors, rapid infusion devices, infusion pumps and syringes. Assists licensed anesthesia care providers in catheter insertion for invasive monitoring.
Maintains and organizes the anesthesia environment, equipment, and supplies to facilitate departmental functions.
Maintains sterile supplies within the expiration date.
Inventories, orders, and maintains departmental supply stock consistent with department demand.
Maintains records and has access to all preventative maintenance records.
Maintains and is cognizant of equipment inventory.
Maintains pharmacy drug inventory within their expiration dates and properly disposes of used drugs.
Provides peri-operative technical support to the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthestists's and Anesthesiologists for delivery of patient care.
Maintains the availability of necessary equipment in each anesthetizing area.
Prepares and assembles transducer lines and equipment necessary for invasive pressure monitoring.
Demonstrates detailed technical knowledge and troubleshooting ability for the anesthesia delivery system, scavenger system, gas analyzer, physiologic monitor, rapid infusion device, infusion pump and syringe, ACT machine, fluid warmers, fiber optic bronchoscope, and TEE setup.
Makes available, assembles, and assists with the operation of all equipment.
Assists Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists's and Anesthesiologists with patient care.
Participates in technician call coverage.
Assists in the development of action plans regarding improvement opportunities.
Maintains current BCLS certification.
Provides laboratory services and fulfills for quality control documentation.
Provides quality control and maintains supporting documentation on ACT machines, defibrillators, rapid infusion devices, infusion pumps, and any equipment deemed necessary.
Trains and recertifies staff on use of equipment.
May obtain blood draws if a graduate of a phlebotomy program.
