The Supervisor of Radiation Therapy plans, organizes and directs the activities of Radiation Therapy services to ensure quality, efficiency, and continuity of care. The Supervisor of Radiation Therapy works under the direction of the department Manager and/or Director.
The Supervisor of Radiation Therapy job duties include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for participating in quality improvement, quality control and radiation safety standards
Develops educational programs for all employees that encourage self-development and enhance workgroup performance
Verifies the patient's identification using two forms of ID as outlined in hospital policies using AIDET clearly and effectively explains the treatment procedures in a professional manner
Instructs/communicates with patient and/or patient's family (as appropriate) regarding the procedure/treatment to be performed and assesses the patient's ability to tolerate exam
Responsible for supervising the scheduling of simulations and patient treatments
Establishes work schedules for the radiation therapists
Verifies the treatment dose, fields, and frequency chart for physician's notes, precautions, and patient consent forms
Performs high quality procedures examination according to exam protocol in a timely manner
Assists in the orientation and training of staff and leads the work of therapists ensuring that procedures are performed according to standards
The ideal candidate for the Supervisor of Radiation Therapy must be able to demonstrate and maintain current knowledge, continued education and skills to provide appropriate care for the following age groups (specific to department): adult and geriatric
Medical Radiologic Tech (MRT): Licensed by the Medical State Board of Texas as a Medical Radiologic Technologist required (MRT).
