Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Pediatric Echocardiograph Technician.
The Pediatric Echocardiography Technician will be performing echocardiograms on a wide variety of patients including fetuses, neonates, infants, children, adolescents and periodically adults.
Use Doppler technology to aid in assessing patients pre-operatively and post-operatively related to acquired and congenital heart disease in the pediatric population.
Judge if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.
Record files and edit results of echocardiogram. Enter into Merge Cardiology Information System
Maintain logs of ultrasound test findings.
Present preliminary findings to physician for final approval.
Assist the physician with patient care.
Explain the procedure to the patient (parents), record medical history considered necessary, and prepare patients for testing.
Assists in specialized procedures on patients such as pericardiocentesis and localization of catheter for balloon septostomy.
Consult with supervisor or physician when in doubt.
Train and orientate new personnel.
Must be able to use independent judgment in performing echocardiogram examinations.
Is competent to care for patients based upon the age groups treated.
Perform other related duties as required, such as perform adult echocardiography if available when needed in Echo Department.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited Cardiovascular Technology Program 2 years experience in pediatric echocardiography required Experience working with children Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDCS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (RCS) and RDCS (PE) preferred CPR (Required). Will consider applicants who are not registered with an appropriate amount of experience. Registry must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
