Work Hours/Shift: FT â“ 3/12s
You Will Be Responsible For:
Supports the administration of the radiation safety program, including compliance with all regulating and certifying agencies, training of staff and supervision of source ordering, handling, waste removal and disposal.
Actively participates in developing new programs and technologies such as information management, treatment planning and new modalities.
Performs weekly chart reviews and other checks of treatment plans.
Performs dosimetric calculations for external beam, brachytherapy and radiopharma-ceutical therapy.
Provides medical physics consultation to physicians, staff and patients as needed.
Participates in the quality assurance of linear accelerators, simulators, HDR units and any other radiation therapy treatment device.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Â· Ability to analyze and assess data, techniques, methodology, equipment operation, and quality control to ensure that information is obtained and presented accurately
Â· Up-to-date knowledge of patient positioning and equipment operations, including x-ray machines and printers
Â· Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals
Â· Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industry
Â· Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English
Â· Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Â· Associate's degree or Technical degree in a related field, or combination of High School degree and related experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
Â· Two years hospital-based clinical Radiology experience
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
Â· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Â· Completion of radiologic technology training and A.R.R.T. registration
Â· General radiographer state license as required by state if applicable
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
Â· Computed Tomography A.R.R.T.(CT) certification
