POSITION SUMMARY:
Maintain technical and quality assurance standards and procedures for the Clinical Laboratory. Under the supervision of a Technical Supervisor, Laboratory Specialist, Senior Medical Technologist, and/or Medical Technologist performs qualitative and quantitative analyses in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, and Microbiology to obtain data used by pathologists and physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Provide quality customer service through ongoing interface and frequent communication with patients, physicians, hospital staff and management. Support efforts to implement change and foster teambuilding. Understand and contribute to the vision, mission, and goals of the Clinical Laboratory. Monitor daily staffing issues and workflow. Maintain technical and quality assurance standards and procedures for department. #LI-BB1 Qualifications: Education
Required: Associates degree (AA) in chemistry, biological science, medical technology or related field, including internship in an accredited program.
Certificates
Required: ASCP Registered or equivalent (HEW, AMT, NCA) that meets CLIA requirements for the position. Candidate must have a registry for MLT.
Experience
Preferred: One year hospital related experience.
Knowledge
Required: Regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Preferred: Continuous Quality Improvement Process related health care standards and practices.
Technology
Required: Basic computer skills, personal computer applications, and awareness of current use of technology in related field.
Other
Required: Must be able to work variable shifts, weekends and/or holidays as required; must be able to respond to emergencies and call backs. Must be able to transport self.
