We are seeking an experienced, self-directed and highly motivated Medical Technologist 1 to join our Core Lab team at Rush University Medical Center!
The Medical Technologist 1 - 4th rotating shift utilizes the latest advancements in technology and instrumentation to deliver healthcare providers with timely and accurate results. The RUMC Core Laboratory is a teaching facility, as such, this position aids in the educational development of Medical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents. This position is responsible for performing all assigned laboratory testing and reporting for the testing area. This position requires teamwork to achieve common goals and meet deadlines to provide quality care to clients and patients. Performs required QC procedures and preventive maintenance, including corrective action and documentation, for all procedures and instrumentation.
Performs basic troubleshooting of equipment and processes with minimal assistance, documents action and notifies appropriate personnel.
Accepts no inappropriate specimens, notifies appropriate person of specimens that must be drawn or collected again and documents the notification.
Utilizes time effectively and seeks out additional job duties when shift tasks are complete.
Suggests new ideas and approaches in the workplace.
Meets turnaround time expectations by prioritizing and organizing daily workload 90% of the time.
Reports accurate results.
Acts as "tech-in-charge" for specified periods of time by solving moderately complex problems and overseeing basic as well as moderately complex, laboratory operations. Refers highly complex issues to appropriate personnel.
Reviews appropriate computer generated reports at the appropriate time.
Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Science and/or relevant science required.
Current Medical Technologist (MT / MLS- ASCP please see www.ascp.org) certificate required.
Experience: Minimum 24 contiguous months of laboratory related experience required. Some lab divisions may require more.
Current knowledge of medical and laboratory terminology strongly preferred.
