Supervisor, Pathology, Point of Care Testing - (Raleigh)

Make Improvements in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Diseases as a Supervisor, Pathology at WakeMed Health & Hospitals

As a Supervisor, Pathology, you will supervise staff members within laboratory section or area of responsibility and perform technical and administrative duties. Additional responsibilities include:

• Overseeing the daily performance of the diagnostic work of the laboratory, ensuring quality work and adequate staffing within area of responsibility
• Performing laboratory testing as needed to maintain and strengthen knowledge base of discipline
• Assisting in planning and review of technical studies
• Acting as a consultant regarding technical questions and problems
• Overseeing laboratory quality assurance and quality control, procedure updates, proficiency testing, employee training and education, evaluation and implementation of new procedures, equipment, and computer functionality, and compliance with accrediting agencies
• Coordinating technical development, review, and training activities with technical and management staff
• Assuring timely, effective communication with employees
• Conferring with and counseling staff members regarding problems, errors, and inquiries
• Promoting teamwork and maintaining focus on customer service
• Participating in section administrative activities including but not limited to selection and evaluation of employees, maintenance of employee records, inventory control/ordering, and budgetary planning
• Coordinating operational, personnel, and budgetary administrative components with Section Manager/management staff to assure optimal application of resources
• Providing after hours assistance as needed
• Delegating assignments and tasks as is required to guarantee accuracy and promptness of patient testing and efficient laboratory operation

Work Schedule:

• Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
• Weekend requirements: as needed
• Call requirements: every sixth week

Education Required:

• Required: Associate's Degree Medical Laboratory Technology
• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Medical Technology

Experience Requirements:

• Required: 5 Years Clinical - Medical Technologist
• Preferred: Previous leadership role

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

• American Society for Clinical Pathology Required
