If you are a current, permanent VA employee, you should apply under CBST-11068101-21-AH. This Medical Supply Technician position is responsible for the decontamination and processing of all Reusable Medical Equipment (RME) for the Sterile Processing Service (SPS) of the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks located in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The primary purpose of this position is to perform the full range of duties required to decontaminate, clean, sterilize, process, prepare, store, and distribute medical supplies and equipment used in all areas of the hospital. Duties include, but are not limited to: Receives contaminated reusable medical supplies, instruments, and equipment from hospital wards, clinics, and operating rooms; Disassembles and decontaminates reusable items by determining the appropriate cleaning method according to manufacturer instructions. Operates automated cleaning equipment such as ultrasonic irrigators, washer disinfectors and cart washers using the appropriate chemical/decontamination solution. Inspects items and equipment for damage, deterioration or imperfections; Assembles and appropriately package instruments for sterilization per sterilization method determined by manufacturer. Conducts High-Level Disinfection procedures by means of manual and automated processes; Performs basic maintenance and/or troubleshoots medical equipment; Assembles instrument trays and case carts in support of the Operating Room (OR), clinical areas throughout the facility and outlying clinics; Maintains accurate required documentation associated with an instrument reprocessing department. Performs daily quality assurance testing for all reprocessing equipment as needed. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; Possible Shifts Include: 7:00am-3:30pm, 9:00am-5:00pm, 12:00pm-8:30pm, Or 2:00pm-10:30pm. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required.
