The Health Tech is an integral part of the Employee Occupational Health Team performing vital signs on employees, assisting with vaccine administration, serving as back-up for drug testing, tracking employees for EOH, and assisting the Employee Occupational Health Physician or Nurse with other duties as assigned. The Health Technician provides support in a wide variety of basic clinical and intermediate level administrative activities. Incumbent must ensure compliance with VA regulations, Joint Commission standards and other regulatory agencies. Responsible for initiating and carrying out a variety of administrative, laboratory, Doppler studies and electrocardiogram duties in support of patient examinations in the Administrative Medicine Service. The incumbent provides and performs administrative, venipuncture, Doppler studies and electrocardiograms in coordination of patient examinations and advise the professional staff on administrative order request tor venipuncture. Ensures all orders for venipuncture, EKG's, and Doppler studies are completed. Performs standard diagnostic tests or procedures such as electrocardiograms, attaching electrodes to chest area of patient for testing results transmission, venipuncture for collection of blood specimen, according to written protocol or as directed by the physician or other professional staff and Doppler studies. The incumbent obtains all key information needed and initiates administrative processing of physician orders in a timely manner. All key information must be acquired before treatment orders are entered. This in :ludes but is not limited to: ordering of diagnostic tests, labs, requesting medical record:; from other facilities, etc. Assures that patients are comfortable and treated courteously, enthusiastically and in a timely manner. Incumbent is aware of all performance measures to include nationally, VISN and all medical center policies. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
