This position is in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Integrated Service Network 6 (VISN 6), at the Central Virginia VA Health Care System, a complexity level 1A facility in Richmond, Virginia. This position works under the administrative supervision of the Assistant Chief of Nutrition and Food Service. Major Duties, but not limited to: Oversee quality and quantity of work performed in the Nutrition Call Center (NCC) and nourishment areas. Resolves issues relating to the NFS Systems as they arise throughout the medical center . Supervise the NCC staff and other lower level grade service workers assigned to the NCC, including performance appraisal and supporting a positive labor/management environment.. Develops, documents and evaluates standards of work for NCC employees. Oversee subordinate employees work and ability to follow instructions provides suggestions and guidance as required. Oversee all aspects of Computrition utilizing program to run various operational reports. Maintains, updates and rolls over menu for the service in Computrition to provide accurate and timely registry of menu items available to patients, food production, and inventory team Utilizes knowledge of regular and modified diets to make necessary diet changes to menus and tray tickets Performs meal rounds, records and enters encounter data and events into electronic database system. Interviews new admissions and low risk patients, accurately documents in the electronic medical record. Provides written and oral nutrition counseling to patient on modified diets prior to their discharge. Monitors patients for changes in weight, appearance, food intake or medication. Provide nutrition counseling to patients and education to staff. Maintain dietetic reports and update associated work processes. Collects data and information for quality improvement reports, makes suggestions for improvements. Maintain accurate records of data collected within the service. Responsible for overseeing and documentation of orientation for new employees. Participate in on the job training for subordinate staff. Performs technical work in support of the clinical section and NCC, working to assist dietitians and food service workers by completing a wide number and variety of technical assignments. Assists with menu tallies and posted in designated patient areas. Conduct calorie counts. Calculate patients calories and protein intake, document and calculate the findings in patients electronic medical record. Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-4:30pm including Holidays, weekends & coverage as needed Compressed/Flexible: Not available Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
