| Operates a variety of complex Radiologic equipment both mobile and fixed, will perform a variety of routine and very difficult radiographic examinations, analyzes and sets proper technical factors, positions patient and making the exposures necessary for the requested procedure. They will give guidance and support to less experienced techs. Operates a variety of complex Radiologic equipment both mobile and fixed, will perform a variety of routine and very difficult radiographic examinations, analyzes and sets proper technical factors, positions patient and makes the exposures necessary for the requested procedure. Assists the radiologist in a variety of difficult and sometime sterile fluoroscopic procedures. Technologist must have extensive knowledge of the human anatomy and physiology of the major systems including the skeletal, muscular, circulatory, respiratory, digestive and urinary systems and an understanding of the various chemical used in a Radiologic procedure, and how they can react to a patient. Have knowledge of radiation and how it affects the patient and the people around them. Maintains a professional license by continuing education. Requires a compassionate, considerate, and courteous attitude to all contacts, displaying sensitivity and a helpful attitude to the needs of veterans and their families. Sensitivity to the needs of veterans and their families will include awareness of, and consideration and accommodation for, the various age related problems experienced by geriatric patients such as difficulty hearing, vision problems, memory problems, and decrease in physical endurance, strength, and ambulation. It will also include sensitivity to the unique demands and situations involved in contacts with psychiatric patients. Performs a variety of difficult and routine radiographic examinations for the diagnosis of illness or injuries in accident victims. Receives patients, explains procedures, positions patients, selects technical factors, and makes exposures. Review and process images for quality and prepares them for interpretation. In addition, as needed, sets up and operates accessory equipment required for special examinations. As a team member with a radiologist, performs highly technical procedures such as cholangiography, urethrograms, G.I. series, Modified Barium Swallow, barium and air contrast Barium Enemas, Arthrograms and Myelograms. Sets up the x-ray room and assures that sterile supplies, local anesthetics, contrast materials, catheters, and other required equipment are present and laid out. Work Schedule: Rotating shift.
