This is a full-time/non-exempt term position lasting six months to one year.
Posting for a Histotechnologist I to be part of an energetic and fast-paced team of scientists in the Department of Orthopaedics, focused on translational research of the body's response to injury and tissue repair. This individual will work in conjunction with senior laboratory members and individually to conduct live-animal imaging and end-point histologic analysis from animals and human samples. Funding for this position will be supported in part by VA and NIH grant funding.

Have a background in histology, with 1-3+ years of research or clinical laboratory experience.
Preferred expertise with both paraffin and frozen sectioning. The ideal candidate will have expertise with histologic analysis of muscle and bone tissue.
Must be proficient at tissue embedding, microtome/cryotome usage, slide preparation, and basic histologic staining (H/E, Tri-chromes, etc)
Preferred expertise with immunohistochemical and immunofluorescent staining and optimization
Preferred work experience in a clinical laboratory setting and experience handling human samples.
Preferred expertise with light and fluorescent microscopy
Preferred expertise with in vivo animal imaging (In vivo fluorescence, in vivo bioluminescence, radiographic imaging, etc).
Be willing to collaborate with graduate and medical students.
Have excellent record keeping skills and organization.
Applicant must be proficient in digital data handling, with preferred experiences with ImageJ, Photoshop, or an alike program for analysis
Be reliable and punctual to obtain data at the designated points.
Be able to prepare basic laboratory solutions and perform basic laboratory math.
Applicants should be able to work proficiently, both independently and in a team.
This position may require the individual to:
Handle human and animal samples
Collect fresh tissues from experimental animals for histologic analysis
Prepare tissues for end-point imaging (fluorescence, microCT, etc) following by paraffin-embedded histologic processing and analysis
Assist with performing live animal imaging- x-ray analysis, in vivo fluorescence, and bioluminescence
Assist with analysis of animal imaging data or histologic images.
Prepare solutions for histologic staining.
Analyze data and prepare publication-quality figures
Collaborate with clinical personal such as nurses to obtain patient samples
Organize and maintain records of all data collected throughout studies
Maintain patient research records in a HIPPA-compliant manner
Assess and store clinical data within a secure REDCap Database
