To provide advanced technical skills necessary to perform electroencephalogram (EEG) and long-term monitoring (LTM) procedures. Serves as preceptor and mentor for Neurodiagnostic Technologist I.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Participates in tutoring, demonstrating, and mentoring other team members.
Competently performs routine inpatient and outpatient neurodiagnostic procedures.
Proficient in the best electrode application method using paste, collodion, or electrode caps as appropriate.
Explains procedures to patient, elicits and records medical history from patient and/or chart.
Measures and applies standard scalp electrodes to meet the standard 10/20 placement.
Records the studies and independently makes alteration of the test protocol based on history and on the ongoing study. Recognize normal and abnormal variants in study recording and acts accordingly.
Monitors and reviews raw study and video data.
Prune and archives EEG and video data of patients’ Video/EEG monitoring.
Works well independently with minimal supervision, but also has the ability to work well in small groups.
Participates in and supports quality improvement activities.
Maintains continuing education requirements of the American Board of Registered Electrodiagnostic Technicians (ABRET) by reviewing literature and attending educational meetings for the latest accepted practices and electoral safety relevant to equipment and testing.
Associates degree from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Electroneurodiagnostic (END) or related program or equivalent. Three (3) years experience performing procedures in area of competence. Credentialed through a UTMB approved agency in R. EEG T., CNIM, or CLTM. Current BLS certification.
The ideal candidate will possess CLTM (Certified Long-Term Monitoring) certification in addition to their R. EEG registry.
The ideal candidate will have experience with Epilepsy Surgery patients such as assisting in the operating room with placement of electrodes and monitoring post-surgery recordings from scalp and implanted grid, strip, and depth electrodes.
Position is 40 hours per week
Rotates UTMB Neurodiagnostic locations (Galveston, Clear Lake, and League City)
Rotates after-hours call (weekday, weekend, and holiday)
