The primary purpose of the position is to support the clinical and administrative functions of the Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Service by fitting and customizing off-the-shelf (OTS) orthoses or prostheses as deemed appropriate by prescription and medical system policies, procedures, and treatment plans, and under supervision, adjusting, assembling, and fabricating orthoses and prostheses. Duties of a Health Technician - Prosthetics include but are not limited to: Reviewing many complex prosthetics issues for a wide variety of orthoses & prostheses, medical devices & medical supplies. The orders are complex because of the unique or highly technical nature of the service required. Function effectively & at times independently to ensure that the Orthotics & Prosthetics Clinic works efficiently. Provide outstanding customer service to internal & external customers. Under the direction of a Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist: constructs/shapes molded & custom-made orthoses/prostheses including but not limited to upper, lower limb, including shoe modifications, & spinal orthoses. Fits & dispenses non-custom orthotic soft goods. Assists with the repair, engineering, fitting & dispensing of orthotic appliances. Takes measurements of body & limb segments to appropriately select, size, & fit device to the patient. Renders decisions on eligibility for orthotic & prosthetic devices & reviews requests for prosthetics devices from physicians or a prescription. Assists in the managing of orthotic & prosthetic inventory within the Department, including chemical inventory. Requests patient specific items through the Remote Order Entry System (ROES). This requires an understanding of the contracts & contracted items available through the Denver Acquisition & Logistics Center (DALC). Other duties as assigned Location: Lake Baldwin & Daytona Beach Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. The selectee may be required to work or travel between any of the locations within Corporate Orlando, including the Lake Nona campus.
