The GS-10 Advanced Staff Technologist position is located within various places within VISN 8: VA Sunshine Healthcare Network. This announcement is being used to fill various positions at facilities throughout the VISN 8: VA Sunshine Network. You must choose which facilities you want to be considered for. You may select one or more facility; but you must select at least one when you apply. You will be considered for the facilities that you select when you apply. Facilities may have positions are various duty locations covered by its facility. Note that some facilities may not have current vacancies at the time of this announcement. However, applicants may be considered for future and any additional vacancies that become available in the next 90 days. Major Duties include, but are not limited to: Comprehensive knowledge of professional MT principles, practices, concepts and theories providing for sound independent work. Comprehensive knowledge of laboratory quality control and assurance procedures and principles of performance improvement to manage reagent and supply inventories and document control systems. Knowledge of laboratory equipment and ability to maintain, troubleshoot and repair instrumentation. Ability to use independent technical judgment to analyze and interpret laboratory results. Ability to read, interpret and apply complex written instructions. Skilled in informatics, laboratory data flow and the understanding of laboratory processes. Ability to communicate, consult and interact with other members of the healthcare team, external relations, customer service and patient education. In addition to the experience above the candidate must demonstrate the following KSAs: Comprehensive knowledge of and skill in applying a wide range of concepts, principles and methodology of the field to perform advanced techniques . Ability to modify or adapt established methods, procedures or techniques to resolve difficult or complex problems. Knowledge of the application of laboratory regulatory requirements. Ability to provide or coordinate staff development and training. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, Various Shifts, to include but not limited to 06:30am-3:00pm, 7:00am-3:30 pm, 7:30am-4:00pm, 3:00pm-11:30pm, and 3:30pm-12:00am. May be required to work rotating shifts nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call. (Note: Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor. The incumbent may be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis based on patient care needs).
