Medical instrument Technician (MIT) functions as a member of the GI/ENDO multidisciplinary team and assist the RN in the care of patients in acute, sub-acute, or chronic states of illness. Maintains, evaluates, troubleshoots and performs on site adjustments for all technical equipment and accessories. Manage specialized equipment and instruments ensuring accuracy in calibration and operation, proper assembly, and correction of possible equipment malfunctions. Assist in collecting, processing, and labeling of specimens for laboratory analysis. Demonstrate proper storage, transport, cleaning, disinfecting of instruments and reusable medical equipment. Provide direct assistance to the provider with basic, complex, and specialized procedures. Ability to collaborate and communicate with all healthcare disciplines to ensure quality care. Responsible for assisting in the care of patients in the pre-procedure and post-procedure areas. Assist with administrative/clerical duties, provide education on bowel preps, and pre/post procedure instructions. Inventory and maintain adequate stock levels of specialty equipment, supplies in endoscopy rooms. Ensure availability of supplies prior to procedure i.e. injectors, dilators, balloons, electro-cautery units. Assist the nurse with patient care duties to include obtaining vital signs, dressing, glucose checks, and documentation of pertinent information. Recognize obvious abnormalities or subtle changes in medical status. Adhere to infection control/sterile processing/manufacturer guidelines in relation to proper disinfecting of endoscopy rooms, stretchers, pre-cleaning of endoscopes and accessory devices Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30- 4:00pm; This position does require on call Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
