The Biomedical Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy working environment by conducting safety tests, performing preventative maintenance in the time frame designated, and performing equipment repairs. Is the facility/vendor interface to arrange for maintenance and repair on specialized equipment. Prepares biomedical reports, including but not limited to, monthly and annual Environment of Care reports and annual risk assessments. Performs policy review and updates. Takes ownership of medical equipment database, including all compliance documentation. Improves on the reliability of medical equipment by analyzing trends, understanding equipment lifecycle management, and proactively works resolve issues and recommend solutions with regards to all medical equipment.
Experience with medical equipment tracking, preventative maintenance and repair. Experience with calibration, imaging, and laboratory specialty equipment. Effective time management communication skills. Comprehensive knowledge of medical equipment standards and guidelines, especially with NFPA 99 Chapter 7, NFPA 70 and TJC Life Safety Code 101. Documentation management that shows medical equipment as being managed, modified, tested, rejected or accepted as applicable. Capable of performing annual risk assessments, policy evaluation and Environment of Care monthly and annual reporting.
Associates Degree in science field mandatory.
Additional 2-5 years biomedical technician experience required.
Certified Biomedical Technician (CBET) through any certifying agency preferred.
