ResponsibilitiesThe department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine is seeking to hire a Senior CLS Specialist for their Blood & Platelet Center. Primary duties include:
•Serve as technical consultant including problem solving related to performance improvement, blood collection/processing and research activities for the Blood & Platelet Center •Coordinate safety, competency, quality assurance and education programs. Provide technical support to staff, physicians and nurses. •Investigate, recommend/develop new procedures and/or instrumentation validation •Perform monthly review of quality control and preventive maintenance and provide monthly summaries •Monitor proficiency and competency testing, review all data, discuss with staff, and keep Faculty, Senior Supervisor/Manager informed of any problems
Qualifications•Current California Clinical Lab Scientist license •4 years of laboratory experience as a CLS •Previous experience working in a Blood Donation Center setting is highly desirable •Working knowledge of donor collection equipment (e.g., Trima Accel® Blood Collection System and Vista), including equipment validation, processes, maintenance, and procedures •Ability to participate in quality studies through data collection, review, tracking, trending, and reporting •Working knowledge of regulatory requirements related Blood Donation including: Safety, compliance, and competency, as stipulated by CAP, JCAHO, FDA, AABB, and CLIA. •Must be an excellent team player •Responsible with strong time management and organization skills
