The IT Configuration Manager will be responsible for implementing, configuring, and maintaining all Service Now Configuration Management Database processes, work instructions and activities. Provides ownership of the Service Now CMDB and works closely with customers to define and implement all mechanisms needed to ensure full control of the configuration items. Maintain precise documentation and accurate usage of the CMDB. As part of the management of the CMDB, the Configuration Manager will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and will work closely with other ITSM process owners to promote close alignment and integration with Change Management, Incident Management, Problem Management, and Release Management.
Implements best practices to support a collection of up-to-date and inter-related configuration and change metrics about IT infrastructure, applications, and business services to ensure data reliability, durability, and availability.
Reconciles the CMDB data when exceptions are noted between CMDB, discovery information, and other authoritative production data repositories.
Supports design, development, and implementation of automated processes for gathering, populating, and maintaining CMDB data.
Assist in defining and registering of configuration items (Cis); the appropriate level of attributes, and relationships required to support IT Service Management (ITSM) processes.
Works with the customers to define and implement all mechanisms needed to ensure full control of the customer's Configurable Items (CI) and business requirements for the overall CMDB.
Assists in defining and registering of CIs: the appropriate level of attributes, and relationships required to support IT Service Management (ITSM) processes.
Enacts system audit practices and conduct audits to ensure data integrity.
Initiates follow-up actions to correct any problems or inefficiencies arising during execution of the CMDB process.
Integrates with the ITSM System team to ensure ITSM and CMDB alignment with ITIL v3 framework.
Key stakeholder supporting CMDB tasks to include the configuration management plan and policy, communicating CMDB activities, and a liaison to third party partners and external suppliers.
