Medical Technician is responsible for: phlebotomy, receiving, accessioning, distribution, processing, transport, evaluation, storage, telephone communication; patient referral of incoming calls, scanning, customer service to our Veterans and VA Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System staff, and patient shipment of clinical laboratory specimens. Ships patient clinical laboratory specimens. Draws blood specimens. Submits testing to laboratories and the special collection requirements for esoteric tests. References lab catalogue. Maintains lab equipment. Identifies supply issues. Operates transport carts. Maintains and documents operational functionality of Crash Cart. Determines sample speed and centrifugal times. Prepares and examines various specimen collections. Verifies supplies are up to date. Maintains, controls and scans laboratory records. Has working knowledge of VistA and CPRS. Performs venipunctures using needle and syringe, evacuated tube systems and butterfly adapters. Work Schedule: 5:00am-5:00pm, with possibility to work weekends and holidays Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
