This position is for a Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing) under Patient Care Services at the Fayetteville VA Medical Center. The main responsibility is to ensure that instruments used by all medical personnel in the healthcare facility are clean and sterile. Duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Decontaminating and sterilizing instruments, medical supplies and equipment, and assembles, wraps and sterilizing trays of instruments. Monitoring biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment. Performing environmental maintenance duties and assisting in maintaining inventory levels in sterile processing, the operating room, and in equipment storage areas. Verifying that equipment functions properly, requisitions for equipment maintenance repair or replacement, and removes defective equipment. Using the computerized instrument tracking system in the performance of assigned duties, obtaining instrument count sheets, obtaining special handling instructions for instrumentation documenting sterilization loads, and other assigned tasks. Work Schedule: Rotating shifts to include weekends: 6:30am-3pm; 8am-4:30pm; 9am-5:30pm; and 11am-7:30pm. Telework: Not Available. Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
