Certified Phlebotomy Technician II - Support Services

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking to hire a Certified Phlebotomist Technician to join their Laboratory Support Services. Duties include:
•Perform phlebotomy on inpatients and outpatients •Triage all lab samples and requests after verification of appropriate information •Enter and verify patient and test info into computer •Generate computer labels for specimens and deliver to appropriate areas •Prepare samples for transport to referral labs or storage •Document draws, added tests, and cancelled/rejected specimens
Note – Position will have a variable start time. Shift may start as early as 12:30pm or as late as 2:00pm.
Qualifications•Current and valid California State CPT certificate •At least two years of phlebotomy experience in high volume hospital setting post CPT certification •Recent experience in performing phlebotomy on all age groups •Previous experience performing specimen processing in an acute care facility, highly preferred •Previous experience in EPIC, highly preferred •Knowledge of Clinical Lab test names and their abbreviated forms •Ability to multi-task with accuracy •Excellent time and organizational skills •Skill in using a computer and printer
