Job Summary: The Patient Care Assistant Extern (PCAE) is accountable for supporting patient care activities, under the supervision of a registered nurse, on inpatient nursing units. The PCAE works closely with the charge nurse and staff nurses to assure patient care needs are met. The PCAE performs patient care activities, as delegated, and adheres to patient safety measures. The PCAE is competent in the performance of basic patient care activities, medical terminology, communication, organizational, and computer skills.
