Texas Oncology - Odessa, Tx is seeking a full-time, team-oriented medical physicist to join our Odessa practice in providing a full range of clinical medical physics services. The successful candidate must be board certified and have working experience in a clinical environment.
Facilities and Equipment: While operationally independent day-to-day, Odessa collaborates with four, fully staffed, Texas Oncology clinics in the heart of West Texas (Abilene, Amarillo, Midland, and Wichita Falls). The sites share a common, single database for record and verify, treatment planning system, and 2nd check program
Collectively, 6 Varian linacs, 3 Elekta Microselectron HDRs with Oncentra TPS, 5 CT simulators, and a mobile PET/CT are used to treat an average of 20-40 patients per day at each of the five sites. Currently, Odessa treats an average of 35 patients per day.
Equipment details: Odessa - Varian 21iX, GE RT Lightspeed CT scanner, Elekta microSelectron HDR, Oncentra TPS for HDR treatment planning, Eclipse TPS, MOSAIQ ROIS, RadCalc, SNC Mapcheck2, SNC ATLAS, SNC Machine, SNC Routine, SNC IC Profiler, and SNC 3DS scanning system
Team: Combined, the fully staffed region consists of 5 board certified radiation oncologists, 5 ABR certified physicists, 6 certified medical dosimetrist, 12 radiation therapist, 5 chief radiation therapist, and 6 CT technicians. Odessa, when fully staffed, consists of 1 board certified radiation oncologist, 1 ABR certified physicist, 1 certified medical dosimetrist, 3 radiation therapists, 1 chief radiation therapist, and 2 CT technicians.

Full range of on-site clinical medical physics support in Odessa
Remote physics support for all sites within the region
Occasional on-site coverage in Midland
Maintain certification/continuing education requirements outlined by the ABR
Maintaining a valid Texas state license for Medical physics as required

Master's degree in Medical physics from an accredited college or university
Graduate from a CAMPEP accredited residency program
ABR board certification (or equivalent)
Full Texas licensure
HDR planning and treatment experience
The ability to be added to the RAM license
Experience with SRS, SBRT, and HDR
Strong organization and oral / written communication skills
The ability to travel on an occasion, as needed, basis to support the sister clinic in Midland, Texas (20 Miles)
A working knowledge of Varian linear accelerators as well as Nucletron/Oncentra
A working knowledge of Elekta/Nucletron microselectron HDR afterloader and Oncentra TPS
A working knowledge of Eclipse TPS
A working knowledge of MOSAIQ Record and Verify system
A working knowledge of HDR, SBRT and SRS procedures
A working knowledge of Radiation Safety for x-ray registration
A working knowledge of Radiation Safety for radioactive materials licenses
