Texas Oncology is looking for a
Medical Dosimetrist to join our team! This position will support and work in our
Longview, TX location;
1300 Fourth St. Longview, TX 75601. The successful candidate must be board certified by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board. Experience with the Eclipse treatment planning system and MOSAIQ record and verify system is a plus. The successful candidate will collaborate with our team of 8 physicists, 7 dosimetrists, and a physics resident in providing a full range of clinical services in support of our 8 clinics. All sites share a single database for EMR, treatment planning (conventional and SRS/SBRT), 2nd check program, and ATLAS

What does the position require? In collaboration with the radiation oncologist and medical physicist, use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to develop, generate, and evaluate treatment plans using computer software and manual calculations based on prescribed target region and avoidance dose criteria. The Dosimetrist may use a wide variety of patient imaging modalities registered to the planning images, which assists in the identification of physician delineated target structures and critical structures to be avoided. Support and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities:
The essential duties and responsibilities: - Must be able to generate radiation therapy treatment plans in a timely manner using computer software and various imaging modalities, demonstrating strong attention to detail.
- Must be able to transfer treatment plans, treatment parameters, field DRR's, and setup photos and notes to the ROIS (record & verify system). May be asked to understand the transfer process and verify treatment planning information post transfer.
- Must be able to adapt to ever-changing technology and be open to learning new systems and techniques.
- Must be able to perform routine duties independent of supervision but consult with the Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicist as required.
- Must be able to consult and communicate with the therapists regarding the implementation of the treatment plan including: the correct use of immobilization devices, field arrangement, and other treatment variables.
- Must be able to perform or supervise the design and fabrication of immobilization devices, beam modifying devices (i.e., compensating filters, bolus, molds, custom shields, etc.) and treatment planning aids.
- May be asked to accurately enter codes for technical treatment planning and quality assurance tasks or teach applied aspects of medical dosimetry to students and residents, as assigned.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Medical Dosimetrist will have the following minimum qualifications: - Credentials as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD)- a current and valid certification as a qualified medical dosimetrist by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB)
- At least two years of experience with Eclipse TPS.
- Two years of experience with MOSAIQ preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in planning VMAT, IMRT, and 3D treatment modalities for a variety of treatment sites.
