Diagnostic Laboratory of Oklahoma- Oklahoma City Metro, OK Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
Main Duties:
The Laboratory Supervisor has the responsibility for the planning, coordination, evaluation, and supervision of all technical and/or operational activities and staff members in the laboratory. Responsible for performing duties so as to operate the lab with the highest quality, safety and integrity, and in an efficient, economical and businesslike manner are of utmost importance.
Work with DLO POC tech and hospital staff to assure proper operation of POCT program.
Plans, assigns and directs work in the laboratory. Able to review equipment and bring in-house new testing. Mentors and supports employees in their responsibilities in QC, testing, and ensures they receive training in supervisory skill development. Defines, coordinates, and monitors quality assurance programs and supervises activities of the Quality Assurance Specialist. Ensures quality control and compliance procedures are followed. Oversees staffing of all personnel in the laboratory. Reviews test performance, drives process and project management, and prepares and submits required reports to meet established deadlines. Manages test database. Resolves problems through interaction with clients.
Defines, coordinates and monitors EHS programs and supervises activities of the Department Safety Coordinator. Ensures EHS regulatory standards and safety procedures are followed.
Responsible for daily operations of hospital laboratory. Able to meet physician’s needs by problem solving and resolution of their concerns. Attend monthly meetings as needed by the hospital including but not limited to JCAHO inspections teams, Patient Care, and Med Quality as required by the hospital. Communicate directly with the Physicians and respond to their needs and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
Supervisor must be a working bench tech willing to work hours outside 8-5, to make sure employees are trained and problems are resolved. Willing to work with Manager on completion of CAP surveys and training. Review QC weekly and monthly. Able to follow implemented QA program.
Responsible for the scheduling and supervision of the non-exempt lab personnel on multiple shifts. Accountable for quantity and quality of specimens handled and test results.
Required Knowledge: BS MLS(ASCP) or equivalent
Requires an MT/MLS and BS degree in Medical Technology to meet CLIA standards for a laboratory supervisor.
General hospital laboratory knowledge is required. Ability to use Laboratory computers is required. Must possess advanced knowledge associated with testing within hematology, chemistry, serology, and blood bank.
Required Experience: Working Medical Technologist with experience preferred and prefers current Supervisory experience.
Special Requirement: Excellent customer service skills, professional appearance, and attitude. Hours will be as needed per need of med tech staffing.
