Medical Instrument Technician (Gastroenterology(GI)
Gastroenterology (GI) is a specialty practice area in which health-care staff provide care to patients with known or suspected gastrointestinal problems who are undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic treatment or procedures. The Medical Instrument Technician Gastroenterology (MIT/GI) assists the practitioner in endoscopic procedures that are routine and standardized in nature including, but not limited to; esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), colonoscopy, and bronchoscopy. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education. There are no specific educational requirements for this occupation. Education may be substituted for experience only at the GS-4 and GS-5 levels. See
