CommonSpirit Health, Northwest Region seeks an accomplished, transformative, and collaborative Chief Medical Officer (CMO). The NW Region is comprised of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, in Washington State's Puget Sound Market; and two markets in Oregon State which include St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton and Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg. Altogether, the three markets include over 19,000 team members and nearly 5,400 employed physicians and affiliated providers. The CMO will serve as the top physician for the region, leading and driving change in clinical operations, quality, safety, patient experience, education and research.
As the NW Region CMO, this physician executive will provide leadership, strategic direction and clinical operational management of physician services and medical staff administration across the NW Region. They will be key in leading the continued integration of the hospitals and medical staffs, care sites, employed and affiliated providers into the region's respective markets and into CommonSpirit, bringing standardization and a seamless, unified brand to the NW Region. As the senior-most physician leader for the NW Region, the CMO will be charged with driving improvement in clinical quality, patient safety, patient experience, and engagement of providers and staff. This leader will oversee the NW Region's education and research efforts and relationships with affiliated academic institutions.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of clinical leadership within a complex, multi-site health system, having served at the CMO level over more than one hospital and with exposure to the ambulatory environment. They will posess an expert skillset in driving change to improve metrics in clinical quality, patient safety and physician engagement. This physician leader will be a relationship builder with demonstrated experiene in bringing groups together around a unified vision and strategic direction. Candidates must have ample experience working with and driving results with both groups of employed and affiliated providers. A Doctor of Medicine degree is required (M.D./D.O.) along with completion of a postgraduate medical education in an ACGME approved residency program in a medical specialty with current Board Certification, and eligibility for licensure in the State of Washington. An advanced degree in healthcare or a business-related field is strongly desired.

Presently, the hiring base salary range for this position is $450,000 to $643,000 based on background, credentials and previous employment experience. In addition, the individual is eligible for a significant annual incentive based on fiscal year performance against goals developed annually by the CommonSpirit Health senior executive leadership team and approved by the Compensation Committee of the CommonSpirit Health Board.
