The Lead Sleep Technologist provides technical supervision for both nighttime and daytime technologists and ensures high-quality standards across all sleep studies. In addition to performing the full range of testing offered in the lab, the Lead will conduct, record, and score sleep studies in real-time in accordance with AASM guidelines.
Key responsibilities include supporting quality assurance initiatives, training and mentoring sleep technologists, and collaborating with the Sleep Center Medical Director to ensure timely scoring and reporting for physician interpretation. This role also plays a key part in maintaining patient safety throughout all testing.
Additional duties include:
Ensuring proper functioning and calibration of all sleep lab equipment
Designing and updating protocols for specialized studies
Backing up all patient polysomnographic data
Providing technical support for new procedures and protocols
Assisting with day-to-day lab operations and workflow coordination
Collaborating on quality improvement efforts across the lab
Coordinating with the Manager, Medical Director, and administrative staff to ensure efficient operations
This is a leadership role that combines hands-on clinical expertise with operational oversight to support excellence in sleep medicine services.

Qualifications
CPR/BLS Certification is required.
License from the Medical Board of California Polysomnographic Tech OR Respiratory Care Board of CA Respiratory Care Practioner License required (or Board Eligible)
Experience with Basic computer skills.
Experience in sleep recording instrumentation and scoring techniques .
Comfort working with clinical research populations.
Required to work flexible hours including nights and/or days as patient scheduling indicates.

Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT)
National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT)
Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT)
Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) -SDS
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) -SDS
Registered Sleep Technologist (RST)
Experience in Polysomnography is required.
Experience with Basic computer skills.
Experience in sleep recording instrumentation and scoring techniques .
Comfort working with clinical research populations.
Experience training others in sleep procedures.
Excellent communication skills.
Patient experience focused.
