Histotechnicians
Interested in a challenging new career with advancement opportunities? Interested in making a difference in the lives of millions? The Histotechnician will be responsible for performing all technical duties related to the production of histo-pathological slides and grossing tissue specimens.
Responsibilities:
Prepare slides for pathologists and external clients for interpretation
Perform tissue embedding
Perform routine and special microtomy procedures
Perform routine and special stains
Prepare and discard reagents and material per lab guidelines
Perform grossing
Accession and log specimens, maintain documentation of workload volume, quality control data and all appropriate records as required by the department, company and various regulatory agencies
Operate and maintain tissue processors, embedding instruments and automated staining instruments
Perform preventive maintenance on all histological instruments
Maintain logs, QC routine and special stains
Research, troubleshoot and resolve inquiries or problems within the laboratory
Follow all technical standard operating procedures
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years of experience in Histology and meet all licenses necessary for Histology OR Associates Degree with 5+ years’ experience
Cytotechnologists
Are you a certified cytotechnologist? Are you in school pursuing a cytotechnologist degree/certification? If so, Labcorp wants to speak with you about exciting opportunities to join our team as a full-time salaried cytotechnologist in a fast paced, customer focused, and challenging environment.
Responsibilities:
Screen and evaluate any gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens sent to the laboratory for the determination of possible malignant or related abnormal conditions
Ensure proper documentation of workload recording, including screening and non-screening activities as required by CLIA
Meet slide screening requirements as per standard operating procedure
Provide backup for cytology processing and other tasks as needed
Requirements:
Cytotechnologist (CT) certified American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification or equivalent
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university and documentation of one year of training at an accredited school of Cytotechnology
ThinPrep certification required
Must pass CAP annual proficiency test
Automated and non-automated testing experience preferred
Demonstrated understanding of Cytopreparation techniques is recommended
Surepath certified preferred
Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
Medical Laboratory Scientists/Technologists/Clinical Laboratory Scientists/Medical Laboratory Technicians:
Responsibilities:
Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
Assist with processing of specimens when needed
Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Requirements:
ASCP or AMT certification is preferred
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plus
High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
